About
Heitor da Silva Costa and Paul Landowski's Art Deco statue of Christ stands on the summit of Corcovado, about 700 m above Rio, and faces east over the city toward Guanabara Bay. It is 30 m tall, its arms span 28 m, and it stands on an 8 m pedestal that holds a small chapel. The model shows the statue, the pedestal, the viewing terraces with their stairs, railings and escalators, and the granite summit under them.
